Tell us about yourself … who are you?

My name is Ines Echevarria and I am a 39-year-old woman from Barcelona. My big hobbies are sports, reading and photography, and spending time with my family in nature. I’m very passionate about creativity, good people and social entrepreneurship. I am convinced that it is the only sustainable way of doing business, and the only one that makes sense!

After more than 10 years working in companies where I was seeking to connect to a higher purpose, I felt the need to become a social entrepreneur myself. That is when I founded Uttopy, a sustainable fashion brand that encourages daily activism and solidarity among young people.

What do you do?

Four years ago I founded Uttopy, a fashion brand that aims to raise awareness and funding for social causes.

Just like any entrepreneur I do almost everything, with the aim of making a positive impact. I have a dream of consolidating a scalable project with a socio-environmental impact.

Within Uttopy, I am involved in four key activities. I look for partnerships with various companies, NGOs and other institutions. Alongside this, I also try to develop digital ecosystems for Uttopy through e-commerce, crowdfunding, social media campaigning and much more!

On a more general level, I am also involved in conceptualizing and developing new collections, as well as building our brand through raising awareness on our owned and earned media accounts.

You can say that I am involved in almost all of the processes!

What do you aspire to do?

I aspire to be a catalyst for change which our society needs in order to move towards a more just and sustainable world.

What has been your biggest struggle(s) as an entrepreneur so far?

Since the beginning, my biggest challenge has been fine-tuning our value proposition in order to consolidate a project capable of generating positive impact in a scalable way. The most complicated thing is to create a brand with limited resources, in such a complex sector as the fashion industry.

How do you feel about the Planet Venus community?

All the initiatives that encourage networking among people who share interests and values is key to generate change.

A community of women, with an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to improve the world is a very powerful combination and I am very happy to be part of it!
